First off, I need to clarify...
Victor Frankenstein is the protagonist of the story, does that make him the good guy? Not necessarily. He created the Creature, he started all of the bad things in the story out of curiosity. Which was his Fatal Flaw, curiosity killed the cat, and Victors family, and Victor. His need to discover science and create life created "a demon" that instead of facing, Victor runs away from, on multiple occasions.
Victor is "The Mad Scientist", "The Hero" |
<<<< Frankenstein Frankenstein's Monster>>>>> |
The Creature is the antagonist of the story. He was not evil though, not at first. He was an innocent Creature... until the evil of the world changed him. Creatre only wanted love and acceptance from someone, anyone, really. But at somepoint in life, when he looked the way hedid... there had to be a breaking point. And William was. Creatures Fatal Flaw was his need for love.
Creature was "The Villian", "The Monster" |
Now that that's out of the way, we can introduce supporting characters
Elizabeth Lavenza- Frankenstein
Elizabeth is Victor's adoptive sister. She was an orphaned child living with a poor family, who could barely afford to feed her. Frankenstein's mother, Caroline Beaufort, being somewhat of an orphan herself, and who yearned for a daughter, adopted Elizabeth without hesitation. Elizabeth grew up, more or less, as Victors sister, but from the day Elizabeth was "presented" to Victor, they were to be married. Whether it was through a stroke of luck, or a deep-set psychological need to please Caroline, Elizabeth loved Victor. While we don't see her until half way through the tale, we continuously hear of her beauty, kindness and pure-heart. Once she enters the story we see, first hand, her good-ness and love for Victor. But her goodness is short lived. As she goes on her honeymoon with Victor, after their long awaited marriage, she is murdered by the Creature on the first night. Elizabeth was "The Love Interest", "The Pure", "The Hero's Goal", "The Beautiful Girl" character. |
